Pfizer and Humedica agree real-world data alliance

21st December 2012

Pfizer has announced a multi-year strategic alliance with clinical intelligence company Humedica that will allow new insights to be derived from real-world data.

Humedica is set to become Pfizer's clinical informatics and analytics partner, applying big data solutions across the continuum of care.

The companies will be carrying out data-driven collaborative research, taking advantage of Humedica’s expertise in gathering and normalising de-identified healthcare data from disparate systems and Pfizer's capabilities in researching, developing and commercialising medicines.

It is hoped that this partnership will bring together clinical informatics and life sciences expertise and allow future drug development to be based on a better understanding of patient needs and outcomes.

Geno Germano, president and general manager for Pfizer's specialty care business unit, said: "By combining leading-edge analytics with unique real world datasets, we believe we can identify actionable insights and potentially improve patient outcomes and overall health.”

Earlier this month, the company announced that it has signed up to the Worldwide Innovative Network Consortium, an organisation dedicated to improving global access to personalised medicine solutions.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801511193-ADNFCR
