Takeda announces organisational restructuring initiatives
Takeda has announced a series of changes to its organisational and management structure, including the launch of a new business division.
Effective as of January 1st 2013, the pharmaceutical company will introduce a global customer market business insights department, while its metabolic disease drug discovery unit will be renamed the cardiovascular and metabolic drug discovery unit.
In addition to this, the firm will be promoting North Asian division director Kazumi Fujikawa to the role of vice-president of the newly-established business unit.
Meanwhile, on January 7th, Takeda will also appoint Christopher Hohman as senior vice-president of corporate communications, a step up from his current role of vice-president of this division.
Earlier this month, the company announced that it will be selling off its non-Colcrys URL Pharma Inc generic business to Caraco Pharmaceutical Laboratories.
This will allow Takeda to focus on continuing to grow the Colcrys business, which has helped it to become a leader in the gout therapy market since it was acquired in June 2012.
