Medtronic launches new Evera defibrillator range

8th February 2013

Medtronic has announced the launch of a new range of implantable cardioverter-defibrillators (ICD).

The Minnesota-based global company – which has more than 45,000 employees worldwide – has created a new range of CE Mark of the Evera ICDs, which offer increased longevity and the most advanced shock reduction technology on the market.

These products are the first ICDs to include the organisation's PhysioCurve design, which has been specially created to improve patient comfort as it follows the contours of the individual's body and reduces skin pressure by up to 30 per cent.

In addition, the Evera system also provides a 25 per cent improvement in terms of battery longevity, meaning the equipment can run for 11 years.

Professor Joerg Scwab of the University Hospital of Bonn, Germany, noted Evera "offers patients and physicians a unique standard in modern ICD treatment".

"This advanced comprehensive ICD technology works to improve patients' overall quality of life," he added. ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801537521-ADNFCR
