Boston Scientific launches Promus Premier stent in Europe
Boston Scientific has announced the beginning of its European market rollout of the new Promus Premier Everolimus-Eluting Platinum Chromium Coronary Stent System.
This next-generation advance in durable polymer drug-eluting stent (DES) technology is designed to provide improved performance in the treatment of coronary artery disease, thanks to its customised Platinum Chromium stent architecture, everolimus drug coating and fluorinated co-polymer and enhanced delivery system.
It provides improved longitudinal strength while maintaining strong visibility, radial strength and fracture resistance, as well as minimal recoil and a proven history of positive clinical outcomes.
The device has been granted European CE Mark approval and will prove a vital tool in helping to combat coronary artery disease, which is the single most common cause of death in Europe.
Kevin Ballinger, president of interventional cardiology for Boston Scientific, said: "The Promus Premier Stent System is the latest example of our unparalleled pipeline of drug-eluting stent technologies and reflects our commitment to global DES market leadership."
Last month, the firm commenced enrolment for a clinical trial of a new medical device for treating atrial fibrillation, the Blazer Open-Irrigated Temperature Ablation Catheter.
