Kimberly-Clark to launch cervical joint pain device

Kimberly-Clark is set to introduce an innovative device for helping to resolve cervical facet joint pain, the third most common cause of spinal pain.

The Cervicool Cooled Radiofrequency System uses water-cooled technology to address the unique anatomy of cervical joints and provide larger lesions than standard radiofrequency, thus helping to address nerve path variability in the cervical spine.

It is able to deliver long-lasting pain relief, thus enabling a more active lifestyle, and has been developed in collaboration with a board of physician consultants.

Those suffering from this condition are typically reliant on cervical injections to provide relief, but this is a limited method, while diagnostic and therapeutic nerve blocks are difficult due to nerve course variability and the spine's difficult anatomy.

Lisa Kudlacz, general manager for global interventional pain management at Kimberly-Clark, said: "Kimberly-Clark is continuously transforming the healthcare landscape, from diagnostics to treatment, offering unique solutions for chronic pain."

Earlier this month, the company announced that it will be increasing its manufacturing of face mask products in order to help meet demand caused by the flu epidemic taking place in the US.
