Pfizer launches annual operational review
Pfizer has announced the launch of its latest annual operational review, highlighting the progress made by the business during 2012.
The company's third integrated yearly review summarised Pfizer's strong financial performance last year and the encouraging developments for its pipeline projects, including the launch of five important new therapies.
According to the report, Pfizer was able to increase the number of top 20 diseases addressed by current and in-development products, while enhancing access to medicines and gaining momentum in its efforts to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions.
Ian Read, the company's chairman and chief executive officer, said the firm has also been able to advance its research and development turnaround, improve efficiency, meet financial commitments and maintain ethical business standards.
He stated: "I believe our culture can become a key sustainable advantage as we work to make Pfizer the premier innovative biopharmaceutical company."
This comes in the same week that Pfizer agreed a new alliance with BIND Therapeutics, focusing on a potentially promising new type of targeted treatment called Accurins.
