Boston Scientific launches MRI study for ImageReady system
Boston Scientific has enrolled the first patient for Samurai, a new study assessing the performance of its next-generation ImageReady MR Conditional pacing system.
The trial is expected to involve approximately 363 patients at 45 centres in seven countries and is designed to confirm the safety and effectiveness of the system within a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) environment.
Boston Scientific's ImageReady system consists of the Ingenio MRI pacemaker family plus the new Ingevity MRI pacing leads and has been optimised to reduce magnetic interference with device performance, allowing patients to benefit from the full range of imaging solutions available.
Dr Kenneth Stein, chief medical officer for cardiac rhythm management at Boston Scientific, said: "Our mission is to improve outcomes by providing patients and their physicians with access to the most advanced device therapies and diagnostic technologies."
This week, the company also announced the US launch of the new fiXate Tissue Band for securing spinal cord stimulator leads or pain pump catheters.
