KCI to launch CelluTome Epidermal Harvesting System globally
KCI has announced the imminent global rollout of a new automated system for harvesting autologous non-damaged epidermal tissue, for use in skin graft applications.
The CelluTome Epidermal Harvesting System allows users to make this key process more precise, reproducible and convenient, while causing minimal levels of pain and scarring for patients undergoing the procedure.
It has been designed to consistently and reliably harvest epidermis at the dermal-epidermal junction, allowing skin grafting to be carried out without the need for donor site anaesthesia.
Epidermal micrografts harvested with this system can be used in conjunction with KCI VAC Therapy, which has been shown to promote tissue granulation.
Joe Woody, president and chief executive officer of KCI, said: "This new product is a complementary and innovative addition to our existing product portfolio of transformational healing solutions."
Last month, the company announced positive data from a new trial of its ABThera Open Abdomen Negative Pressure Therapy System, showing the device's efficacy in abdominal closure techniques.
