Henry Schein achieves record first-quarter performance
Henry Schein has announced a record net sales total of $2.3 billion for the first quarter of 2013, which was up by 9.3 percent year over year.
The firm – which also experienced an 8.2 percent increase in adjusted earnings per share during the quarter – was able to benefit from improved performances from all of its major business divisions, with the dental unit continuing to be its top earner.
Thanks to the strong first-quarter performance, the company is on course to achieve its full-year earnings goal and build on its record $8.9 billion sales total from 2012.
Stanley Bergman, chairman of the board and chief executive officer of Henry Schein, said: "While the quarter's results reflect certain macroeconomic challenges in Europe, as well as some one-time technical factors, our bottom-line performance was in line with our expectations."
In addition to its recent operational success, Henry Schein was included in a Fortune list of the most admired companies in the world and praised by Ethisphere for its commitment to corporate responsibility.
Moreover, it was able to secure $300 million of committed financing from the Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi last month.
