GE Healthcare’s CT portfolio fulfils MITA smart dosing standards

15th May 2013

GE Healthcare has announced that its entire new portfolio of computed tomography (CT) products has been developed to meet smart dosing standards laid out by the Medical Imaging and Technology Alliance (MITA).

Compliance with the MITA standards means that its equipment can offer key features that enable radiation dose delivery to be minimised, without compromising the quality of images necessary for accurate diagnoses.

These include attributes such as automatic exposure control, paediatric and adult reference protocols, dosage checks and DICOM dose structured reporting, all of which are key tenets of GE Healthcare's latest CT offerings.

Ken Denison, CT dose leader for GE Healthcare, said: "Our own strict guidelines on reducing dose while actually enhancing image quality is why we are a global leader in CT dose management today."

One of the company's newest CT offerings is the Optima NM/CT 640, which received its first commercial installation anywhere in the world at the Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital in Fort Worth in February 2013.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801585842-ADNFCR
