Hologic appoints new member of board of directors

Hologic has announced that health and life science sector veteran Scott Garrett has joined its newly expanded board of directors.

Mr Garrett will serve on the company's corporate development committee and will become the tenth member of the board, with eight of these directors being independent.

He is currently an operating partner with private equity firm Water Street Healthcare Partners and a former chairman, president, and chief executive officer of life science company Beckman Coulter, serving with the firm for almost ten years.

Additionally, he served in chief executive roles at Kendro Laboratory Products and Dade Behring, as well as taking charge of Baxter Diagnostics, the global laboratory business of the Baxter medical group.

Rob Cascella, president and chief executive officer at Hologic, said: "We will benefit from Scott's guidance as we execute our strategy to achieve long-term growth across each of Hologic's franchises."

Earlier this month, the company announced its financial results for the second quarter of the current business year, during which it achieved a 31.4 percent year-on-year increase in revenues.
