Cook Medical presents new products at Digestive Disease Week

Cook Medical has presented data on a number of its new products at Digestive Disease Week, the world's largest gathering of gastroenterology researchers and physicians.

Six abstracts and other clinical data were presented on Cook Medical products during the event in Orlando, including several talks on its EchoTip ProCore High Definition Ultrasound Biopsy needles.

Presentations were given on the performance of the device in clinical studies and its comparative benefits when benchmarked against similar products, while the company also ran skills labs in which clinical specialists provided hands-on training to physicians.

Barry Slowey, global leader of Cook Medical's endoscopy division, said: "All the discussion around our EchoTip ProCore needles is especially promising, because endoscopic ultrasound is going to become even more vital to the correct diagnosis of gastrointestinal cancers in the coming years."

This comes in the same month that the medical technology firm is launching its new otolaryngology/head and neck surgery division in Europe, following its successful US debut last September.
