Mast Uri System earns positive testimony from NHS Fife

21st May 2013

Mast's latest urine microbiology innovation the Mast Uri System has earned a positive evaluation from NHS Fife.

During a presentation at the recent European Congress of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases in Berlin, the NHS organisation reported findings from an assessment of the Uri System for bacterial identification and antibiotic susceptibility testing of urinary tract infections.

Compared to NHS Fife's current method of testing – which utilises Vitek 2, CLSI disc diffusion and conventional culture – Mast's system delivered improved turnaround speed, freeing up time for biomedical science staff, while also reducing consumable costs.

The report noted that these benefits are important as "rapid turnaround time of results from microbiological screening of urine samples is essential for patient management".

Mast's Uri System was introduced in the UK in September 2011 and has proven a market success, as well as being well-received at the various life science conferences at which it has been demonstrated during the last year and a half.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801588683-ADNFCR
