BD publishes new sustainability report for 2012
BD has highlighted its strategic priorities and performance on environmental and community projects in its annual sustainability report for 2012.
Last year, the company was able to enhance the safety and green profiles of its product range, increase its investment in wind power, improve the energy efficiency of its operations and enhance its workplace health and safety standards.
It was also able to launch Labs for Life – a new collaboration with the US President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief to strengthen health systems in the developing world – while extending its ethics and compliance training and expanding its anti-bribery and anti-corruption programme.
As such, BD was able to earn recognition for its ethical business practices from numerous organisations, including Dow Jones and Ethisphere.
Vincent Forlenza, chairman, chief executive officer and president of BD, said: "We believe the principles of shared value – creating value for shareholders by strengthening communities and addressing healthcare challenges of societies – are fundamental to our strategy."
Earlier this month, the firm announced its financial results for the second quarter of 2013, during which it experienced a 3.7 percent year-on-year increase in revenues.
