Dechra launched CPD series on methadone
Dechra Veterinary Products is helping to educate animal health professionals on the appropriate use of methadone through a new series of continuing professional development (CPD) sessions.
The programme of ten events commenced in Swansea on May 21st 2013 and will continue with dates in Birmingham, Exeter, Gatwick, Basingstoke, Hertford, Stirling, Newcastle Upon Tyne, Manchester and Cambridge throughout June and July.
Lasting two hours each, the free talks will be presented by key opinion leaders and detail methadone's role in pain management among dogs and cats, particularly when used as part of a multimodal analgesia technique.
Dechra is responsible for commercialising Comfortan, the only licensed methadone product for the veterinary market in the UK.
Veterinary product brand manager Craig Sankey said the sessions "will provide reassurance on the use of methadone by explaining the benefits of using full mu agonist opioids to provide analgesia as well as encouraging practices to ensure their pain management protocols are up to date".
Earlier this week, the firm announced that it will be launching a new series of case studies on skin disease at the VetsNorth 2013 conference in Manchester this July.
