Virbac to sponsor anti-puppy farming event PupAid

11th June 2013

Virbac Animal Health has announced its support for PupAid, an annual anti-puppy farming event organised by vet Marc Abraham that will be held on Primrose Hill in London this September.

The company's Twitter-based canine parvovirus (CPV) early warning system @parvoalert will be an official sponsor of the event, which takes place on September 7th and features trade stalls, displays, family activities and appearances by celebrity dog enthusiasts.

Mr Abraham recently launched an online petition calling for a ban on puppies being sold without their mothers in order to help combat the proliferation of CPV, which is particularly common among animals raised in inadequate and unhygienic conditions.

Virbac is fully supportive of the vet's efforts to have the unethical practice of puppy farming outlawed and has welcomed the establishment of PupAid as a regular event.

Simon Boulton, companion animal marketing manager at Virbac, said: "I'll be using the opportunity to talk to owners about the dangers of parvovirus and encouraging them to protect their dogs through vaccination."

Earlier this year, the company launched My Virbac, a new web portal that provides animal health professionals with easier access to a wide range of resources and services.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801597674-ADNFCR
