CareFusion launches new laparoscopic retractors
CareFusion is introducing a new smaller variant of its successful Snowden-Pencer line of pretzel-shaped laparoscopic retractors.
Featuring a 3mm shaft, the device enables smaller incisions and is designed for use in minimally invasive laparoscopic procedures, while also promoting faster recovery times, minimal scarring and reduced postoperative pain and trauma.
The pretzel-shaped retractors are now available in 3mm and 5mm variants, complementing the existing lines of angled, hooked, circular and triangular Snowden-Pencer devices.
They are also compatible with the Snowden-Pencer Fast Clamp system, which holds endoscopic instruments in place during a procedure, thus reducing the need for additional personnel to be present.
Andreas Lex, vice-president and general manager of V Mueller and Snowden-Pencer surgical instruments for CareFusion, said: "The expansion of this product line provides surgeons [with] even more options in choosing the best retractors available to meet their needs."
Earlier this month, the firm also launched a next generation version of its industry-leading line of surgical clippers, which feature a number of ergonomic advantages.
