Norbrook receives expanded licence for Pestigon

26th June 2013

Norbrook Laboratories has announced that its Pestigon product for cats has had its UK licence expanded.

Previously indicated as a means of treating dermacentor reticulatus tick infestations, it can now offer a killing effect within 48 hours on both this and the ixodes ricinus tick, with efficacy lasting up to two weeks.

Pestigon is used in both dogs and cats to combat fleas, with the canine version of the product also providing efficacy against the dermacentor reticulatus, rhipicephalus sanguineus and ixodes ricinus ticks.

The addition of the ixodes ricinus tick to the Pestigon for Cats label is important, as this is one of the most common ticks found in the UK and can spread conditions such as lyme disease.

Michelle Jones, Norbrook's small animal brand manager, said: "We are therefore delighted that our Pestigon range now gives cat owners even more protection against fleas and ticks."

The firm is based in the UK and has formulated and registered more than 800 products for sale in 120 countries. ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801604638-ADNFCR
