Daiichi Sankyo agrees manufacturing alliance with Saltigo

9th July 2013

Daiichi Sankyo has entered into a new alliance with Saltigo, a contract manufacturing organisation (CMO) based in Germany.

The Japanese pharmaceutical company is calling in the support of Saltigo as it prepares to commercialise one of its novel drug pipeline products, while financial and operational aspects of the deal remained undisclosed.

A signing ceremony took place in Tokyo to mark the agreement, with Daiichi Sankyo's executive vice-president of pharmaceutical technology Katsumi Fujimoto and Saltigo managing director Wolfgang Schmitz both in attendance.

Mr Schmitz said: "Daiichi Sankyo is one of the largest pharma players in the second-largest pharma market in the world and decided to work with a globally recognised CMO partner, such as our company."

Founded in 2005 through the merger of Daiichi Pharmaceutical and Sankyo, Daiichi Sankyo is responsible for brands such as Olmetec, Efient and Lixiana, with its headquarters being based in Tokyo and its capital coming to more than 50 billion yen (332.45 million pounds).ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801609712-ADNFCR
