Otsuka establishes new European division in UK

Otsuka has announced the launch of a new UK-based European division dedicated to the development of new pharmaceuticals.

The new Otsuka Europe Development and Commercialisation unit was inaugurated on July 1st 2013 and will serve as the research and development headquarters for the company in Europe, working alongside Otsuka Pharmaceutical Europe Ltd.

Both of these separate entities will be based in the same location just outside London to ensure optimal collaboration and support the successful development and commercialisation of Otsuka's products.

The company's overall aim is to build a single fully integrated European company that is agile enough to respond to the demands of an increasingly rigorous regulatory environment.

Dean Haubrich, president and chief executive officer of the new division, said: "We believe that Otsuka has a great deal to contribute to the health and wellbeing of people in Europe and we look forward to reinforcing our strong positive presence."

Otsuka has European operations in France, Germany, Italy, the Nordic region, Spain and the UK and employs around 40,000 people worldwide.
