Alliance Boots and Macmillan to offer physical activity guidance

Alliance Boots and Macmillan Cancer Support are collaborating to provide advice to cancer patients on how they can remain physically active during and after their affliction.

The pharmacy chain's Boots Macmillan information pharmacists are being provided with additional training to offer information on how to get active, while helping to connect people to local support providers and offering a new exercise DVD.

Entitled Get Active, Feel Good, the free DVD has been developed by Macmillan Cancer Support and features a low-level music-accompanied exercise programme specifically tailored for cancer patients, as well as testimonies from other sufferers on how exercise has helped them.

Angela Chalmers, a Boots Macmillan information pharmacist, said: "Community pharmacy provides a convenient way for people to access information and support and Boots Macmillan information pharmacists can now offer additional guidance to help people affected by cancer to get active."

Last month, Alliance Boots was ranked by BDO and the Sunday Times as the largest privately-owned company in Britain by sales revenues for the fourth consecutive year.
