3M releases Attest Super Rapid Readout Biological Indicator System

3M has announced the availability of the new Attest Super Rapid Readout Biological Indicator System for steam sterilisation cycles.

According to the company, it can offer biological confirmation of a successful instrument sterilisation three times as fast as was previously possible.

Tushar Kshirsagar, global business director of 3M Sterilization, said that it is a significant technological achievement which will bring clear biological impact (BI) efficiency benefits in the future.

He added: "With the new, optimised Attest system, BI results are available in about the time it takes to cool a load, and instruments and implants can be released to the OR much sooner."

As well as the speed and efficiency benefits, 3M states the Attest Super Rapid Readout Biological Indicator System will also bring a reduced need for early release documentation and a lower risk of recalls.

It is hoped by the company that the new system will improve sterilisation practices and increase the level of patient care.
