St Jude Medical names new board member
St Jude Medical has announced the appointment of medical technology sector veteran Stefan Widensohler as a new member of its board of directors.
Mr Widensohler is the proprietor, chief executive and president of the Krauth Medical group, a position he has occupied since 1992, giving him extensive experience in the global sale and marketing of healthcare products and services, as well as reimbursement, public policy and ecommerce.
He previously served as a St Jude Medical director between 2001 and 2010 and is also currently a member of the board of MyoPowers Medical Technologies and LDR Holding.
Daniel Starks, chairman, president and chief executive officer of St Jude Medical, said: "Stefan brings to the board substantial international healthcare expertise that will be invaluable to our board as St Jude Medical continues to grow on a global basis."
Last week, Mr Starks expressed satisfaction with the company's performance in the second quarter of 2013, during which it reported net sales of just over $1.4 billion (913.21 million pounds).
