Actavis reports significant growth in Q2 2013
Actavis has announced its financial results for the second quarter of 2013, during which it experienced a significant year-on-year sales increase.
The company's net revenue total of $1.99 billion (1.3 billion pounds) was up by 46.8 percent compared to Q2 2012, with strong generics launches, rising demand for branded products and operational improvements all contributing to this growth.
Actavis has experienced pronounced growth in 2013 following last year's merger between Watson and Actavis, with this momentum set to be sustained further by the more recent takeover of Warner Chilcott.
This deal was agreed in May 2013 and has been valued at $8.5 billion, with the acquisition likely to strengthen Actavis' position in the women's health, gastroenterology, urology and dermatology markets.
It is expected that the merger could be closed as early as the beginning of the fourth quarter of 2013.
Paul Bisaro, president and chief executive officer of Actavis, said: "Actavis delivered another exceptional quarter of double-digit sales and earnings growth."
