Siemens introduces new VersaCell X3 Solution

Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics is expanding its industry-leading clinical laboratory automation portfolio with the launch of its new VersaCell X3 Solution.

At the annual meeting of the American Association for Clinical Chemistry and American Society for Clinical Laboratory Science in Houston this week, the company demonstrated the various benefits of the automated system, which offers a smaller footprint and more affordable operation than track-based alternatives.

It combines a small footprint and upright design with connectivity for up to three Siemens analysers through a single robotic sample interface for increased productivity gains, while also supporting a customised mix of chemistry immunoassay and integrated systems and associated assay menus.

Dave Hickey, chief executive officer for the chemistry immunoassay automation and diagnostics IT business unit of Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics, said: "Siemens strives to be a trusted partner for labs of all sizes and central to that goal is helping them identify and capitalise on their workflow excellence potential."

Last month, Siemens announced the launch of the RAPIDLab 348EX Blood Gas System, a new product offering specifically tailored for use by low-volume labs.
