Qiagen reports growth in second quarter of 2013
Qiagen has announced its financial results for the second quarter of 2013, during which it generated an adjusted net sales total of $316.4 million (206.41 million pounds).
This was up by three percent year on year thanks to the company delivering growth across all geographic regions despite challenging economic conditions, with its molecular diagnostics, pharmaceutical and academic business units all performing well.
Its QuantiFERON-TB latent tuberculosis test, personalised healthcare portfolio and successful QIAsymphony automation platform were all cited as growth drivers, while a next-generation sequencing offering is now being developed.
A new $100 million share repurchase programme has also been announced to coincide with the latest financial report, underlining its confidence in its future prospects.
Peer Schatz, chief executive officer of Qiagen, said: "Based on the solid results in the first half of the year, Qiagen continues to be well-positioned to achieve its goals for 2013."
This builds further on the three percent year-on-year growth the firm achieved in the first quarter of 2013.
