Teva highlights positive trends in Q2 2013
Teva has announced its financial results for the second quarter of 2013, a period marked by evolving market conditions for the company.
The firm's net revenue total for the quarter came to $4.9 billion (3.2 billion pounds), which was roughly level with the strong performance seen in Q2 2012.
Higher revenues from Copaxone and other specialty medicines, plus a significant upturn in the fortunes of the over-the-counter products division, helped to counterbalance a drop-off in revenues from generic therapies.
In the last three months, Teva has expanded its portfolio with a number of important new offerings, such as its generic version of Pfizer's erectile dysfunction drug Viagra.
Teva expects that the launch of additional products in the coming months and the progression of its research and development pipeline – particularly its new therapeutic entities – will position the firm for future success.
Jeremy Levin, Teva's president and chief executive officer, said: "We are building a strong and diverse business, as well as a robust pipeline that positions Teva to achieve a high level of performance and growth."
