Protexin supports sanitation improvement scheme
Protexin has announced its support for the Toilet Twinning campaign, a philanthropic initiative aimed at driving improvements in sanitation in third-world countries.
Organised by charities Cord and Tearfund, the scheme raises funds by giving people and businesses the opportunity to link their own toilets to those in some of the world’s poorest countries.
Protexin has agreed to twin four of its commodes to toilets in Uganda, Ethiopia, Sierra Leone and Afghanistan, thereby raising money to improve standards of safe sanitation, clean water and hygiene education.
Company director Toby Lewis said: "Toilet Twinning is a fun way of contributing to such an important cause. It was certainly a talking point in the office the day the certificates were hung in our toilets."
The firm employs almost 90 people and was named one of the best companies in the UK to work for in 2013.
Now in its 21st year, the organisation was also recently nominated for the best business prize in this year's Western Gazette Business of the Year Awards.
