BD launches Sterifill Advance for large-volume injections

14th August 2013

BD has announced the commercial launch of BD Sterifill Advance, a new solution optimised for the delivery of large-volume injectable drugs via intravenous infusion.

The company's new prefillable polymer syringe is made with a highly advanced cyclic olefin polymer that provides a reduced risk of breakage, glass-like transparency and low levels of extractables, plus coating technology that guarantees smooth gliding.

It is based on the design of the leading disposable syringe BD Plastipak and has been optimised for maximum durability, reducing the likelihood of flange breakage and ensuring a reliable connection with syringe pumps.

Sterifill Advance can be used in a wide range of applications, such as anaesthesia, pain management, cardiac therapy and nutrition, among others.

Claude Dartiguelongue, president of pharmaceutical systems at BD Medical, said: "We are offering drug developers, healthcare workers and patients a new option for prefill drug delivery that sets new standards in both safety and convenience."

This comes after the firm recently reported its financial results for the third quarter of the 2013 business year, during which it experienced a 3.6 percent year-on-year revenue increase.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801624992-ADNFCR
