Sirona appoints new chief financial officer

Sirona Dental Systems has announced the appointment of Ulrich Michel as its new chief financial officer and executive vice-president, effective from October 14th 2013.

Mr Michel's appointment has been unanimously approved by the company's board of directors and will see him succeed Simone Blank, who will assist with the transition before stepping down from the role.

In his new role, Mr Michel will oversee and direct all aspects of the financial management of the company, bringing more than 25 years of business experience to the organisation.

Prior to his appointment, he spent more than eight years serving as the chief financial officer of commercial vehicle technology firm Wabco.

Jeffrey Slovin, president and chief executive officer of Sirona, said: "His hiring is part of Sirona's succession plan and we expect him to be instrumental in guiding Sirona through its next phase of growth."

Mr Slovin was himself appointed as head of the company earlier this year, having succeeded Jost Fischer in the role.
