Actavis appoints new chief accounting officer

Actavis has announced the appointment of James D'Arecca as its new chief accounting officer, reporting directly to chief financial officer Todd Joyce.

Mr D'Arecca joins the company having most recently occupied a similar role at fellow healthcare firm Bausch and Lomb, while prior to this he served as executive director and business development controller at pharmaceutical giant Merck Sharp and Dohme.

During his time with Merck, he acted as the primary liaison between the controller's organisation and the business development and corporate licensing functions, and he can also count Schering-Plough and PricewaterhouseCoopers among his former employers.

The certified public accountant has significant experience in healthcare sector issues and can boast qualifications from Columbia University and Rutgers University.

Last month, Actavis announced its financial results for the second quarter of 2013, during which it experienced a 46.8 percent year-on-year revenue increase.

The company has seen major growth thanks to the recent merger of Watson and Actavis, with the takeover of Warner Chilcott set to ensure this momentum continues.
