Laborie appoints new president and chief executive officer

Laborie has announced the appointment of Brian Ellacott as its new president and chief executive officer, a role that will see him based in Mississauga, Ontario.

Mr Ellacott is a senior healthcare executive who was most recently employed as the general manager of Invacare's North and South American businesses, while prior to this he worked in key leadership roles for American Hospital Supply and Baxter International.

His career in the healthcare sector spans more than 30 years, making him a strong candidate to develop the Laborie brand and expand its position in the urology, gynaecology and colorectal disorder markets.

Jamie Fraser, executive chairman of Laborie, said: "Brian brings significant global healthcare knowledge and a proven track record in growing businesses and achieving operational excellence in various roles in healthcare manufacturing, distribution and services."

Earlier this year, the company's founder Ray Laborie received the Simon Foundation for Continence's John J Humpal Award, recognising the work he and his organisation have done to advance the treatment of incontinence worldwide.
