Lilly names new member of board of directors
Lilly has announced the appointment of Dr Marschall Runge as the newest member of its board of directors, effective as of September 1st 2013.
Dr Runge is the executive dean for the school of medicine at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC-Chapel Hill) and will serve on Lilly's science and technology and public policy/compliance committees following his appointment.
In addition to his department of medicine position, he acts as principal investigator and director of the North Carolina Translational and Clinical Sciences Institute at UNC-Chapel Hill and is a renowned leader in vascular biology, having published more than 150 peer-reviewed manuscripts.
Dr John Lechleiter, Lilly's chairman, president and chief executive officer (CEO), said: "Dr Runge brings to the Lilly board a broad background in healthcare, with extensive experience as a practicing physician, clinical researcher and dean of a major academic medical institution."
The CEO recently returned to his position after taking a period of medical leave in undergo surgery for a dilated aorta.
