Henry Schein supports oral care outreach scheme in Malawi

9th September 2013

Henry Schein has supported a London-based dentist's efforts to improve the quality of oral care in Malawi, one of the world's poorest countries.

James Goolnik led a team of eight dental professionals on a ten-day trip to Malawi in July 2013, visiting a number of facilities and helping to provide crucial equipment, plus education to local children on oral care.

Henry Schein made a donation of consumables and equipment, as well as sending an employee to provide maintenance and installation support on location, plus training support for dental professionals.

The project was carried out in association with the charity Dentaid and fellow dental products manufacturer Colgate, which contributed 10,000 toothbrushes and toothpaste supplies.

Simon Gambold, managing director of Henry Schein's medical and dental business in the UK, said: "Through donating healthcare products and installation and maintenance support in Malawi, we were able to increase access to healthcare and to support dental professionals in the provision of desperately-needed treatment, preventive care and healthcare education."

Earlier this year, the company provided support for Marine Reach's first international healthcare mission in Albania, including product donations and assistance with maintenance.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801635104-ADNFCR
