PerkinElmer launches live cell capabilities for Operetta
PerkinElmer has enhanced its Operetta high-content imaging system to make it easier to perform live cell assays with higher throughput.
The new functions allow users to analyse the dynamic behaviour of cells using advanced high-content imaging techniques, helping them to accurately observe individual cell behavior over time to better understand dynamic processes.
This will help them to generate more accurate prediction models – for example, how cancer cells migrate during metastasis or how viruses invade cells – thereby fostering a better understanding of normal and aberrant cellular behaviour.
In addition to capabilities such as brightfield imaging, environmental chamber options and a transmitted light digital phase-contrast mode, the system has been integrated with various advanced informatics solutions.
Jim Corbett, president of diagnostics and life sciences at PerkinElmer, said its new product will help researchers "to generate more biologically relevant data on how cells respond to compounds, helping to reduce false positives later in the drug discovery process".
Last month, the firm launched the EnLite Neonatal TREC System, a screening test for severe combined immunodeficiency in newborns.
