Sandoz supports tuberculosis awareness efforts in India
Sandoz has helped the government of India to raise awareness of tuberculosis (TB) with the creation of an educational film.
Developed in collaboration between India's ministry of health and Sandoz Global TB, the film will be shown at public health centres where directly-observed treatment short course strategies are implemented.
These centres are run under the guidance of India's national TB control programme, which provide medical consultation, diagnosis and treatment for tuberculosis patients, free of cost.
The aim of the film will be to reiterate the importance of early diagnosis and completion of treatment for the respiratory illness.
A statement from Sandoz said: "Partnerships with local health authorities support community engagement programmes to raise awareness, provide preventive solutions and counter many myths surrounding tuberculosis."
According to data from parent company Novartis' most recent financial report, Sandoz experienced strong year-on-year growth in the second quarter of 2013, with sales rising by three percent to $2.2 billion (1.39 billion pounds).
