Petplan provides donation to Merseyside Dogs’ Home

Petplan has announced that Merseyside Dogs' Home in Halewood has been selected as the winner of its monthly charitable prize draw.

The facility will receive 500 pounds from the insurance provider, which will be spent on kennel enrichment equipment to improve the lives of the dogs that the home cares for while they await new owners.

Merseyside Dogs' Home took over the running of the business from the RSPCA four months ago and is currently the only dogs' home in Merseyside, taking in around 4,000 animals each year.

In addition to this donation, Petplan also provides rehomed animals with four weeks of free pet insurance to help adopters cover the cost of any unexpected veterinary treatment during this initial period.

Isabella von Mesterhazy, head of marketing at Petplan, said: "We understand the challenges animal charities face and give over two million pounds each year to help rehoming organisations look after more pets."

Petplan is an Allianz Insurance brand which launched in 1976 and has since earned a market-leading position in the UK pet insurance sector.
