GE Healthcare demonstrates new technology at Astro 2013

GE Healthcare is attending the annual American Society for Radiation Oncology (Astro) meeting in Atlanta this week, where it is demonstrating its latest imaging advances.

Running from September 22nd to 25th 2013, the event provides GE Healthcare with the opportunity to showcase new innovations in the fields of computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance (MR) and positron emission tomography-CT (PET/CT).

These will include its metal artifact reduction and deviceless 4D technology capabilities for CT applications and Q Freeze system for use in PET/CT scanning, which enhance radiation oncology studies by facilitating a higher quality of scans and images.

Paul Anderson, general manager of oncology for GE Healthcare, said its product range "blends not only advanced technologies and solutions such as metal artifact reduction, but also an understanding of the tools needed for the accurate and precise delivery of effective patient care".

This comes after the firm earlier this month introduced Silent Scan, a new technology that makes MR scanning procedures much quieter in order to increase patient comfort.
