Laborie agrees takeover of Uromed Technology business
Laborie has announced the acquisition of the pelvic muscle rehabilitation business of fellow healthcare company UroMed Technology.
A developer, manufacturer and distributor of innovative biofeedback and electrical stimulation equipment, accessories and consumables for pelvic floor dysfunction in the treatment of urinary and fecal incontinence, UroMed's business model complements that of Laborie in various ways.
Brian Ellacott, the new president and chief executive officer (CEO) of Laborie, said the two organisations share a commitment to helping healthcare professionals deliver better products and services, while offering quality of life benefits to patients.
By combining complementary product lines, Laborie is hoping to provide greater support to customers worldwide.
Mr Ellacott said: "This acquisition strengthens our foundation in pelvic muscle rehabilitation and expands our presence in the conservative therapy sector by offering brands that are synonymous with innovation and quality."
The new CEO was appointed to the role last month, having previously worked with companies such as Invacare and Baxter over the course of a career spanning more than three decades.
