Covidien launches enhanced LigaSure vessel sealing products

Covidien has announced the launch of two new advanced energy devices for use in vessel sealing applications.

The LigaSure Impact curved large jaw open sealer/divider LF4318 and LigaSure blunt tip laparoscopic sealer/divider LF1637 were introduced at the American College of Surgeons clinical congress and offer improvements in terms of handling, control and performance.

They can be used with the ForceTriad energy platform to utilise TissueFect sensing technology in order to precisely manage energy delivery, while providing various other ergonomic benefits.

Covidien is introducing the new products as it marks the 15th anniversary of the LigaSure portfolio.

Chris Barry, president of advanced surgical technologies at Covidien, said: "LigaSure vessel sealing instruments already are used in millions of surgical procedures and we continue to innovate to enhance our products."

Last month, the company stated that the introduction of a constant stream of new and innovative products is one of the key foundations of its ambitious growth strategy for 2014 and beyond.
