Kimberly-Clark receives recognition for sustainability reporting

Kimberly-Clark has been praised for the transparency and diligence of its sustainability reporting by the not-for-profit organisation Global Reporting Initiative (GRI).

The company was able to fulfill the requirement of the A-plus application level from GRI for the second consecutive year, thanks to the completeness of its disclosure in transparently reporting progress toward every indicator in GRI's framework.

These included economic performance, labour practices, human rights, environmental practices, society performance and product responsibilities.

Although full figures for this year are not yet available, it is known that only around 15 percent of last year's 3,527 sustainability reports worldwide received GRI's A-plus application level.

Lisa Morden, senior director of global sustainability for Kimberly-Clark, said: "We're motivated to deliver essentials for a better life to more people worldwide while reducing the environmental impacts on the world in which we live."

In 2012, the firm was able to make progress towards various environmental targets, improving its energy efficiency, workplace safety and material waste output.
