Dechra launches new TAF Spray for veterinary wound treatment
Dechra has announced the launch of its next-generation antibiotic wound treatment TAF Spray, intended for use on horses, cattle, goats, sheep and pigs.
Thiamphenicol, a highly effective antibiotic, is the active ingredient in the new spray. The 360-degree spray angle allows wounds to be targeted from all directions, particularly in areas that are hard to reach.
It can be used to treat superficial wound infections, as well as infections of the claw and hoof such as foot rot, interdigital dermatitis and digital dermatitis.
TAF Spray is the only licensed wound spray for horses and has a zero-day meat withdrawal period for horses, cattle, goats and sheep, with a 14-day withdrawal period for pigs.
It has been developed in direct response to the research the company conducted among farmers.
Dechra brand manager Emma Jennings said: "Research has shown 51 percent of the veterinarians used an antibiotic spray for the treatment of digital dermatitis – an infection that 92 percent of farmers had experienced in their livestock in the past 12 months."
