Lonza agrees product supply deal with Alexion

Lonza has announced a new long-term product supply agreement with Alexion to supplement the existing production of Alexion products at multiple Lonza facilities.

Under the agreement, Lonza will construct and launch a new suite dedicated to Alexion manufacturing, with the former company to own and operate this site as part of its facility in Portsmouth, New Hampshire.

This contract is an expansion of an existing manufacturing agreement and will provide Alexion customers with increased access to Lonza's proven biological manufacturing and regulatory expertise, experienced global workforce and customer services.

Marc Funk, chief operating officer of Lonza, said: "I'm pleased to be reinforcing our longstanding strategic relationship with Alexion. Our new offering of suites with dedicated manufacturing capacity will give customers greater flexibility in determining production quantities and timings."

Lonza can boast more than two decades of worldwide manufacturing experience with mammalian biotherapeutics. It generated sales of 3.64 billion Swiss francs (2.47 billion pounds) in 2014.
