Pentax Medical appoints new EMEA president

Pentax Medical has announced the appointment of Rainer Burkard to the position of president for Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA).

Mr Burkard has been with the Hoya Group – the parent organisation of Pentax Medical – since 2002 and has held several senior positions across the areas of business development, management and marketing.

Having most recently served as executive director of Seiko Optical, he will now be responsible for leading all Pentax Medical activities in the EMEA region.

This appointment aims to build upon the company's strategy and infrastructure to strengthen its position as a leading endoscopy solutions provider in this territory.

Hiroshi Suzuki, chief executive officer and president of Hoya Group, said Mr Burkard "will build upon our strategy and infrastructure to strengthen our position as a leading endoscopy solutions provider in EMEA".

This comes after the firm's Vivideo ENT Videoscope device was presented with a prestigious international Red Dot Award for product design last month.
