Boehringer Ingelheim provides funding for ESC research grant programme
Boehringer Ingelheim has helped the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) to fund an innovative cardiovascular research grant programme, the winners of which have just been announced.
Five winners of the Grants for Medical Research Innovation programme have been named, with the scheme exclusively supported by an independent grant from Boehringer Ingelheim. Money is awarded to projects addressing unmet medical needs in thromboembolic disease.
A total of 554 entry submissions were received, with Dr David-Alexandre Tregouet, Dr Timo Heidt, Dr Jose Manuel Soria Fernandez, Dr Christina Christersson and Dr Michael Joner selected as the five grant recipients.
Results of the projects are expected to be presented at the 2017 ESC Congress, with an ESC-appointed scientific committee to oversee their progress.
Professor Jorg Kreuzer, vice-president for cardiovascular medicine at Boehringer Ingelheim, said: "We are grateful to be able to support the ESC and the grant recipients, and look forward to seeing the outcomes in the near future. We trust that the results of the grant programme will drive innovation in cardiovascular science."
