Gilead Sciences presents new data at International Liver Congress

19th April 2016

Gilead Sciences has shared a number of new research insights at this year's International Liver Congress.

Organised by the European Association for the Study of the Liver (EASL), the conference in Barcelona gave the company an opportunity to share the findings of several phase II and phase III studies evaluating two investigational fixed-dose combination therapies for chronic hepatitis C.

It also shared new data highlighting the potential use of Harvoni among adolescents aged 12 to 17.

Additionally, the congress saw Gilead share data supporting the development of simtuzumab, GS-4997 and GS-9674, three investigational agents for the treatment of nonalcoholic steatohepatitis and primary sclerosing cholangitis.

Dr Norbert Bischofberger, executive vice-president of research and development and chief scientific officer at Gilead, said: "We are encouraged by the data presented at EASL and look forward to applying the scientific insights from these and other ongoing studies to enhance our clinical programmes."

This comes after the firm recently reported positive data from two phase III trials showing the safety and efficacy of its new hepatitis B drug tenofovir alafenamide.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801816826-ADNFCR
