Two-fifths of Britons ‘are unhappy with their teeth’

A new consumer survey has demonstrated that a significant proportion of the British public are unhappy with their teeth and are willing to consider cosmetic treatment.

Carried out by TJL Solicitors, the survey has indicated that 40 percent of Britons are unhappy with the current state of their teeth, while 48 percent of respondents said they were planning on undergoing cosmetic dentistry work in the future.

When asked about the issues that troubled them most regarding other people's oral health, 38 percent cited bad breath, followed by 27 percent who mentioned discoloured teeth. Meanwhile, 21 percent pointed to missing teeth, eight percent cited wonky teeth, and four percent identified large gaps as the biggest issue.

The report also showed that teeth whitening is the most popular cosmetic procedure, with 25 percent of those polled having experience of whitening their teeth with a home kit, through a dental surgery or at a specialist clinic.

The popularity of this procedure underlines the importance of informing the public on the safest means of receiving this treatment.
