Navigating New IVD Regulations: What It Means for Your Hiring Strategy

The world of in vitro diagnostics (IVD) is moving fast, and as a IVD Life Science recruiter, I have seen that one of the biggest changes has been the introduction of the EU In Vitro Diagnostic Regulation (IVDR). While it’s a positive step for patient safety and product quality, it’s also shaking up how companies work, and who they need in their teams.

What’s Actually Changing?
In short, the rules are stricter. More IVD products now need a Notified Body’s approval, clinical evidence requirements have gone up, and every company must have a Person Responsible for Regulatory Compliance (PRRC) in place. It’s about tighter quality control and more transparency, which is great for the industry, but it does mean companies need people with very specific knowledge and skills.

The Talent Challenge
Here’s the tricky bit: those people are in short supply. Regulatory professionals with hands-on IVDR experience are in high demand, and many of them are already happily employed. That means the old “post a job ad and wait” approach isn’t going to bring the right candidates through the door.

Why Hiring Strategies Need to Evolve
This is where forward planning pays off. Finding the right person means looking past ticking boxes on CV. Transferable skills, the willingness to learn, and cultural fit are just as important. For candidates, it takes more than a salary to draw them in, it’s about flexible working, career development, and the chance to work on innovative projects.

Where Zenopa Fits In
As a life science recruiter, I work closely with IVD companies navigating these changes, and together with our team of expert scientific recruiters, we understand where to find the people who understand the new regulations, and how to connect with professionals who aren’t actively job-hunting but might be tempted by the right IVD opportunity.

Looking Ahead
Companies that adapt quickly to the IVDR will be the ones that come out on top. Building relationships with the right talent now means you’ll be ready for whatever comes next, without the last-minute scramble.

If you’re looking to strengthen your regulatory or commercial teams, Zenopa can help you find the people who’ll keep you compliant, competitive, and ready for the future of diagnostics. Visit our Life Science Recruitment page or get in touch now!
