Dimora Medical Launches MegaSorb Foam Tech

Amelia Phillips
Dimora Medical has launched MegaSorb, a new absorption technology designed for use in silicone foam wound dressings. Announced on 15 June 2026, the system targets moderate-to-high exudate wounds with a dual-action absorption mechanism designed to lock fluid within the dressing in as little as one second. The launch is positioned to reduce leakage, maintain dressing integrity and minimise disruptions caused by frequent dressing changes in chronic and elderly care settings.
At the heart of the MegaSorb system is a high-porosity polymer foam with an open-cell structure of up to 90%, designed for rapid uptake of wound exudate while maintaining the dressing’s internal structural stability during use. The foam can absorb up to 15 times its own weight in fluid, addressing the absorption capacity demands of wounds producing moderate-to-heavy exudate volumes that frequently overwhelm standard dressings and contribute to maceration of surrounding skin.
The second action in the dual-action system is rapid internal retention. Dimora Medical states that exudate is locked within the foam structure within as little as one second of entering the dressing, helping to prevent backflow and surface pooling. The intended clinical benefit is a more stable wound microenvironment, reduced dressing change frequency and lower disruption for patients requiring sustained wound care. Dimora Medical has positioned the launch as part of its ongoing material innovation focus, with chronic wound care among middle-aged and elderly populations identified as a primary commercial application.
Advanced wound care is one of the steadier growth pockets in medical devices, driven by ageing populations, diabetes prevalence and rising community-based care delivery. MegaSorb’s emphasis on rapid retention and reduced dressing change frequency speaks directly to the operational pressure on community nursing and care home settings, where dressing change time is one of the most consequential cost lines.
