Idexx Laboratories simplifies Cardiopet proBNP Test submissions
Idexx Laboratories has announced the introduction of a simplified process for submitting a specimen for its feline or canine Cardiopet proBNP Test.
By eliminating the need for the special pink-top tube that was previously required, vets will be able to order the test without needing to ensure the availability of specialty tubes in the practice.
Meanwhile, the option to use serum for cats simplifies specimen preparation by eliminating the need to draw an extra tube of blood, with the extended dynamic range on the canine test making it easier to detect more severe cases of disease.
These additions will bolster the capabilities of the Cardiopet proBNP Test, which functions by measuring the level of NTproBNP – the most stable cardiac biomarker – circulating in the blood.
Melissa Beall, medical affairs marketing manager at Idexx, said: "The Cardiopet proBNP Test is an additional diagnostic tool the veterinarian can use when evaluating a healthy patient suspected of cardiac disease due to the presence of an abnormal heart sound or rhythm."
This comes after the firm expanded the functionality of its Greer Aller-g-complete system earlier this month, with the aim of further improving its usability.
